An Open Prayer for Spiritual Awakening in the United States of America (See Daniel 9:2-19 as the Model for this Prayer) I, Sonny, understand
from
the Scriptures and the history of previous awakenings, that before any
spiritual awakening can occur, we who have sinned must admit to what we
have done
wrong,
and then ask for your forgiveness. Jesus,
our great and awesome Savior, who keeps his
covenant of love and
grace with all who love him and obey his commands:
we have
sinned and
done wrong! We have been wicked and have
rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and rejected your
forgiving
love and grace. We have not listened to
your servants who spoke in your name to our government, our
representatives, or
courts, and to us. Jesus, you are
righteous, but this day we are covered with shame. We have sinned
against you. The
United States of America in general, and the Baby Boom
Generation in particular, have rejected your offer of saving grace and
instead
chosen to embrace our own selfish natures. Our sins and our
iniquities have broken your
heart and made your
name and our generation an
object of scorn to all those around
us. Now, Jesus, hear the prayers and
petitions of
your servant. For your glory, Jesus,
